Sustainable Food Systems
Sustainable
Food Systems
with a focus on agroecology
Millions of people around the world suffer from hunger or malnutrition. At the same time, climate change, depleted soils and the loss of biodiversity
are putting increasing pressure on agriculture.
The LED supports projects that produce healthy food sustainably while protecting soil, water and ecosystems. The focus is on smallholder farmers, who produce a large proportion of food but are often particularly vulnerable.
Priority countries: Tanzania, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Mali, Mozambique
LED supports specifically:
- agroecological production systems
- the support of knowledge transfer and applied research
- the strengthening of political framework conditions and networks
This creates food systems that are more resilient, climate-friendly and socially just. The aim is to improve food security in the long term and preserve natural resources.
