Starting signal for “Skills for Green Transition” project in Moldova

The development of skills, curricula and teaching capacities is crucial for the training of new professions in the field of renewable energies. This also applies to the LED partner country Moldova, at least if the desired acceleration of ecological change is to be achieved there. Together with the Austrian Development Agency (ADA), the LED is supporting the Republic of Moldova on this path to sustainability. The project is being implemented by the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the local partner AED (Association Education for Development).

At the event on May 15 in Chisinau, which was attended by representatives from state authorities, development partners, vocational schools, NGOs and the private sector, the measures required to encourage young people, especially women and girls, to choose a career in the field of renewable energies were discussed. In the planned project, the teaching of green skills goes beyond initial vocational training. It also focuses on the retraining and further training of adult employees and better opportunities for lifelong learning.

The project will be implemented over the next three years and supports vocational schools in improving the technical capacities of teaching staff and systematically introducing environmental topics and environmentally sustainable practices at vocational schools. In addition, the project aims to establish a national dialog on vocational education and green skills.
