Vocational training
Technical vocational training for young people from disadvantaged families
Brief description of the project
In Bolivia, many young people from disadvantaged families lack access to qualified vocational training. The Fe y Alegría project enables over 1,200 young women and men to receive training in mechanics and IT at the Técnico Medio and Técnico Superior levels.
Through practical training, the strengthening of 5 vocational training institutes (ITS) and 5 adult education centers (CEA) as well as cooperation with the state and the private sector, young people’s chances of finding employment or self-employment are improving in the long term. In this way, the project contributes to income security, to overcoming poverty and to more equal opportunities on the labor market.
Project goals
- More equal opportunities in the labor market: The project improves the income and employment opportunities of young people and women through labor market-oriented technical training in mechanics and IT at intermediate and higher levels.
- Better use of skills for work and self-employment: Participants successfully use the technical and practical skills they have acquired to find employment, improve their employment situation or set up their own small business – in close cooperation with local companies.
- Strong and practical educational institutions: Vocational training and adult education centers offer high-quality training in mechanics and IT that is closely linked to local working and production conditions.
