Knowledge development for energy efficiency and energy management

Brief description of the project

The “Capacity for Cambodia Energy Efficiency” (CapCEE) project is a response to Cambodia’s rising energy demand and greenhouse gas emissions. Led by Geres and in collaboration with the Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC) and the Ministry of Energy, the project supports the implementation of the national Energy Efficiency Policy 2022-2030.

The training of energy managers and auditors through the Certified Energy Manager and Auditor Training (CEMAT) is being further strengthened and local expertise built up. By supporting national guidelines, CapCEE supports the energy transition and the creation of high-quality jobs in Cambodia.

Project goals

  • ITC and project partners are trained in energy management and other energy efficiency topics. Exchange visits to like-minded regional educational institutions provide insights into best practices and technological advances.
  • The ITC training facilities have been upgraded and Geres’ digital solutions for improving energy efficiency have been integrated into the training program.
  • At least 60 experts are certified as energy managers and auditors.
  • 48 local authority officials have increased their competence to effectively implement the Energy Efficiency Directive.
