Food systems
Gender-sensitive program for sustainable food security
Brief description of the project
The aim is to raise food security to a level that ensures sustainable development for the people in the program area. This can be achieved by reducing environmental, climate change, economic and health risks, including by increasing and diversifying agricultural production and incomes, creating resilience plans to adapt to the effects of climate change and making training and resources available for agriculture. Activities for the social and economic empowerment of women also contribute to achieving this goal.
The programme’s direct target groups are people from rural households, associations, umbrella organizations of farmers and producers, vegetable growing groups, family businesses, institutions and civil society organizations as well as small rural entrepreneurs, representatives of local authorities and communities and, in general, women and young people.
Project goals
- Contribution to sustainable food security and resilience of the Senegalese population to shocks, taking into account gender equality, by 2035.
- Rural households have sustainably improved their nutritional situation and habits by 2026, taking gender equality into account.
