Food systems
Agroecology and inclusive governance for sustainable food systems
Brief description of the project
In Tambacounda in eastern Senegal, the average production of small family farms is not enough to meet their food needs for the whole year and is also harmful to the environment. The lack of inclusive governance processes leads to further environmental damage, which in turn jeopardizes the food security of local communities and sets off a vicious cycle. In collaboration with DyTAEL of Tambacounda, the project will address both issues to create more sustainable food systems and resilient communities in the region.
Project goals
- Strengthen mechanisms and tools for inclusive natural resource management to ensure participatory and equitable management of resources to promote environmental sustainability and the well-being of local communities.
- Develop agroecological transition models to support the socio-political dialog on sustainable food systems that improve the resilience of the population and protect the environment.
