Official anniversary greetings from Cambodia and Moldova

60 years of LED
As part of the anniversary celebrations on March 21 in Schaan, Liechtenstein, the LED proudly and happily accepted the official birthday greetings from Cambodia and Moldova, which were sent to it in the form of video and letter messages.

The official video greetings from State Secretary Kuon Phon Rattanak, State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, were inspiring and warmly received. His short speech highlighted the good cooperation that has developed between the two countries in recent years. The LED actively supports Cambodia in developing a skilled workforce for the energy transition, sustainable tourism and digital transformation. Pius Frick, now Country Coordinator for the LED in Cambodia, read out a message of greeting from Moldovan President Maia Sandu, who had worked closely with the LED in her previous role as Minister of Education. Pius Frick was working for the LED in Moldova at the time.

Message of greeting from Maia Sandu on the 60th anniversary of the LED in the original version:

Dear President of the Board Beck,
Distinguished guests,
Friends of the Liechtenstein Development Service

It is an honour to address a message to you as you celebrate 60 years of the Liechtenstein Development Service – an organization whose work continues to improve lives across the globe, including in the Republic of Moldova.
As a former Minister of Education, I witnessed firsthand the value of LED’s contribution to Moldova’s education system. LED was among the first partners to understand that reforming vocational education is not just about new curricula-it is about creating real opportunities for young people to thrive in a changing world.
Through its projects, LED has helped modernise over 30 vocational institutions in Moldova. It has supported the professional development of teachers and school managers, improved infrastructure, and, crucially, built bridges between education and the labor market.
I am particularly proud of our work together to pioneer green skills through renewable energy training programs. As we invest in renewables, aiming to reach a sustained 30% share in our energy mix, these efforts empower our youth with the tools to shape a more sustainable future for Moldova.
The LED-supported dual education and school-based entrepreneurial initiatives also reflect the spirit of innovation we want to see more of in our country and across Europe.
On behalf of the people of Moldova, thank you for your long-standing partnership. And thank you for believing in our potential. Moldova continues its path towards a modern, European future-and thanks to partners like LED, our young people are better prepared to build it.
As we fight to strengthen our democracy and join the European Union, it becomes ever more important to raise new generations of young people who care deeply about their country, about democracy, and about peace in Europe. Moldova is changing. And with the right education and support, our young people will lead this transformation-with confidence, with integrity, and with a sense of responsibility for the world around them.
Thank you once again for your work and congratulations on this important milestone!
