Creating opportunities through vocational training in tourism.

Tourism is one of the most important economic sectors in Cambodia, one of our nine priority countries. At the same time, many people working in the industry lack formal training. This hinders their opportunities for development, income, and long-term prospects.

This is precisely where Swisscontact’s “Hospitality Kampuchea” project comes in, a project supported by the LED for four years. In collaboration with local partners, the project provides practical training to employees and small businesses in the tourism sector. The training sessions combine theory with direct application in everyday work and teach skills in areas such as reception, service, guest guidance, hygiene, and teamwork.

By 2025, more than 1,400 people had already benefited from the continuing education programs. What’s particularly exciting is that the program focuses not only on professional development but also on sustainability. Through “Green HoKa,” topics such as energy efficiency, waste reduction, and sustainable business management are integrated into the training.

You can find out more about this and other projects in the latest annual report.
