On March 21, the LED celebrated its 60th anniversary with a varied program. In front of numerous guests from Switzerland and abroad, Foreign Minister Dominique Hasler and Chairman of the Board of Trustees Peter Beck reaffirmed their commitment to development cooperation and international solidarity. The video message from Janet Maro, CEO of SAT (Sustainable Agriculture Tanzania, a long-standing LED partner organization), and a discussion between LED Managing Director Andreas Sicks and Fritz Brugger, Co-Director of the ETH Needle Institute, provided an exciting insight into the complex situation of international development cooperation (DC) and the commitment of the LED team. The Tellerrand association, represented by board member Ricus Jacometti, presented the LED with a short stage play by the Creative Academy on the subject of inclusion* to mark the anniversary, which was met with great enthusiasm. Musician Kurt Ackermann struck the right note for the occasion with songs such as “Fragile” and “Appreciate”. With this 60th anniversary celebration, the LED expressed its appreciation and gratitude for the many years of support. The anniversary celebration ended on a high note with an aperitif riche, organized by our local partner Verein Ackerschaft. Happy birthday, LED! The event on March 21 marked the start of the anniversary year, which also includes a photo exhibition on the LED focus topic “Food systems with a focus on agroecology”.
