Practical Vocational Training

This young woman from Bolivia has made it onto the cover of our annual report. She represents the many young people who, with courage, dedication, and a good education, want to take control of their own futures.

She is participating in a project we help fund that provides technical vocational training in La Paz, El Alto, and Tiquipaya. There, teenagers and young adults acquire practical skills that help them enter the workforce and open up new opportunities.

In Bolivia, many young people leave school without being adequately prepared for the job market. Young people from low-income families, in particular, often have limited opportunities to complete a skilled training program or earn their own income. Together with our partners, we are therefore strengthening hands-on vocational training. Young people gain access to practical courses, can continue their training at technical institutes, and gain their first work experience in companies.

The goal: better job opportunities, an income of their own, and a self-determined life.
