Food systems
Rural development with a focus on food security and agricultural education in West Africa
Brief description of the project
The socio-economic integration of young people is a major challenge in West Africa, as they are often unaware of the opportunities offered by the agricultural sector and/or have no access to training and qualification opportunities. Through PSLs(Prestataire de Services Local) and MAs(Maître d’Apprentissage), the projects“JIGITUGU” in Mali and“HO-HALE” in Burkina Faso create opportunities for on-site training and advisory services to support market-oriented agricultural production and promote the socio-economic integration of young people.
Project goals
- Young people, women and vulnerable groups acquire skills in diversified and sustainable agricultural occupations and integrate profitably into agroecological market systems that create jobs.
- Young people, women and vulnerable groups have better access to vocational training in their area and are actively involved in improving the conditions for entrepreneurship and social cohesion in their communities.
- The framework conditions for the socio-economic integration of young people, women and vulnerable groups are improved through increased communication, awareness-raising and advocacy.
