Clinical knowledge transfer in southern Africa: Last Thursday, the LED and the SolidarMed team visited the Medical University in Lusaka (LMMU), Zambia, on their project trip. In the picture on the right, the trainee nurses in one of the training centers, called Skills Labs, listen intently to their colleague from the higher semester, who explains an examination step by step with the help of a mannequin for demonstration purposes. Together with SolidarMed, LMMU supports the LED-funded project ACEZ (Advanced Clinical Education in Zambia). Zambia is currently making great efforts to train more medical staff. However, the quality of training must not suffer as a result of higher student numbers, which is why the project supports the construction of modern skills labs in several provincial hospitals in Zambia.
