LED supports training for irrigation technology in Bolivia

The young people in the photo above are among those taking part in the “Technical Irrigation Systems” training course at the Bolivian San Marti Technical College in the Chuquisaca region in the south of the country. Together with other young people and small farmers, they are not only gaining access to future-oriented vocational qualifications that will make it easier for them to enter the job market, but are also acquiring crucial know-how, such as how to make water use in agriculture more sustainable with the help of professional irrigation systems. They and all other graduates of the course help to protect water resources and thus the livelihoods of many farming families in the region. The future irrigation specialists are thus also making an important contribution beyond the project to making the region, which is severely affected by water shortages, more resilient to the consequences of climate change.

This course is supported by the Liechtenstein Development Service (LED) as part of a vocational training project (more information on this project can be found on the project sheet). The project also strengthens the quality of the course and the university of applied sciences as an educational institution. The project is implemented by the local LED partner organization Fautapo.
