Together with the Liechtenstein Development Service (LED) and the “Association of Liechtenstein Charitable Foundations and Trusts”, Government Councillor Dominique Hasler presented the new interactive online solidarity platform www.solidarisch.li on Tuesday, January 21. The new platform serves to make Liechtenstein’s international engagement more visible, to promote exchange between state and private actors and to provide the general public with more comprehensive and even more transparent access to information on projects and initiatives in the field of Liechtenstein’s international solidarity.
Positioning Liechtenstein internationally as a country of solidarity
Government Councillor Dominique Hasler emphasized that the launch of a solidarity platform is one of the goals of the 2021-2025 government program. It represents an important step towards positioning Liechtenstein as a country of solidarity on an international level. Liechtenstein has been committed to development cooperation and humanitarian aid for many years with a wide range of projects – both through government measures and through the involvement of numerous charitable associations and foundations. Government Councillor Hasler emphasized that this platform forms a bridge between state and private actors in order to further intensify cooperation and create new impetus for joint projects.
The website www.solidarisch.li and www.solidarity.li, which is now available, was designed and is maintained by the Office for Foreign Affairs (AAA). Panagiotis Potolidis-Beck from the AAA emphasized the interactive and modular structure of the platform. This not only enables simple and targeted navigation, but also offers the opportunity to continuously add new content and information. In addition to project overviews, regular reports, video contributions and interviews are published that provide in-depth insights into the work of the various stakeholders. The platform has been designed in two languages in order to appeal to a broad international target group. Peter Beck, President of the LED Foundation Board, emphasized that the joint presence of all relevant players significantly improves the visibility of Liechtenstein’s contributions.
Promoting partnerships between the state and the private sector
A key concern of the Solidarity Platform is to raise awareness of the commitment of private actors. Karin Schöb-Müller from the Association of Liechtenstein Charitable Foundations and Trusts (VLGST) emphasized how important the philanthropic landscape is for Liechtenstein’s development cooperation. The platform provides a platform to showcase the diversity and strength of charitable foundations as well as the successes of cooperation with state actors. Schöb sees the platform as an opportunity to promote synergies between the state and civil society and to expand the scope of joint projects.
Improved access to information
With a budget of 29 million Swiss francs in 2025 for international humanitarian cooperation and development, Liechtenstein is demonstrating its clear commitment to global solidarity. The new platform is an important building block in making the importance and impact of this commitment visible. It offers citizens, international partners and interested parties the opportunity to find out more about Liechtenstein’s contribution to sustainable development, peace and security.
