What is food security and how is Liechtenstein helping to tackle this challenge in West Africa? These were the two questions that LED project manager Marion Reichenbach was able to discuss with the grammar school students in class 3b during the summer semester.
After Marion Reichenbach had spoken about food security and the greatest challenges facing food systems in West Africa (such as low soil fertility, post-harvest losses and climate change), she explained Liechtenstein’s contribution to international development cooperation and the role that the LED plays in this.
In a second session, the students worked in groups on a project example and its sustainable impact. Each group was given a fictitious project proposal to present to their classmates. The students did an excellent job of presenting and discussing the strengths and weaknesses of the various projects and ultimately selected two that they felt were worthy of funding. Many thanks to teacher Jette Gstöhl for her commitment and for organizing this exciting exchange.
