It is September 30, ten o’clock in the morning in Schaan, Liechtenstein, and already three o’clock in the afternoon in Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia: the Zoom meeting over 11,000 km as the crow flies goes smoothly. In the presence of the Office of Foreign Affairs (AAA), the LED (Liechtenstein Development Service) and the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which sets out the framework conditions and legal basis for the establishment of an official LED office.
Foreign Minister Dominique Hasler visited Phnom Penh at the end of February to conclude the state framework agreement between the two countries together with the Cambodian Foreign Minister. Cambodia wants to gear its economy towards sustainability and green skills as quickly as possible and urgently needs a well-trained workforce in the fields of digitalization and new energies. The LED will actively support Cambodia together with other donor organizations under the responsibility of Country Coordinator Pius Frick.
