What is food security and how is Liechtenstein contributing to tackling this challenge in West Africa? These were the two questions that LED project manager Marion Reichenbach had the opportunity to discuss with the secondary school students in Vaduz (Liechtenstein) in class 3b during summer term.
After explaining food security and the biggest challenges with regard to food systems in West Africa (such as poor soil quality, post-harvest losses or climate change), Marion explained Liechtenstein's contribution to international development cooperation and the role that LED plays in it.
In a second session, the students worked in groups to reflect on the qualities of a development project that promotes sustainable impact. Each group was given a different mock project application to present to their peers. The students did an excellent job of presenting and discussing the strengths and weaknesses of the different projects, and ultimately chose two they thought worthy to support.
Many thanks to their teacher Jette Gstoehl for her commitment and for planning this exciting exchange.
