Schaan, Liechtenstein, on 21 March, the LED celebrated its 60th anniversary with a varied program. In front of a large audience with guests from Liechtenstein and abroad, Foreign Minister Dominique Hasler and Foundation-Board-President Peter Beck reaffirmed their commitment to development cooperation and international solidarity. The video message from Janet Maro, CEO SAT (Susatinable Agriculture Tanzania, a longterm LED partner organization), and a discussion between Andreas Sicks, CEO of LED, and Fritz Brugger, Co-Director of the ETH-NADEL Institute, provided an insight into the complex context of international development cooperation (DC) and the work of the LED team. The association Tellerrand, represented by Ricus Giacometti, also member of the LED Foundation Board, gave the LED a birthday present in the form of a short stage play by the "Kreativ-Akademie" on the theme of inclusion*, which was received with great enthusiasm - and the Liechtenstein musician Kurt Ackermann got to the heart of the event with familiar songs such as “Fragile” and “Appreciate”. With this celebration, the LED expressed its appreciation and thankfulness for the 60 years of support. The birthday party ended on a high note with an aperitif riche provided by our local partner Verein Ackerschaft. Happy birthday, LED! This event on March 21 marked the start of the anniversary year, which also includes a photo exhibition on the LED main topic “Food systems with a focus on agroecology”.
*Inclusion is based on an open society and means creating an environment that enables all people to participate on an equal footing. In simple terms, it means "everyone belongs" and is allowed to help shape our society, environment etc.
