Official anniversary greetings from Cambodia and Moldova

The LED proudly received official birthday greetings from Cambodia (by video) and Moldova (by letter) at the 60th anniversary celebration on March 21, 2025, in Schaan, Liechtenstein:

Per video from Cambodia:

It was inspiring to watch the official video greetings from His Excellency Rattanak Khuon, his message was warmly received and illustrates the fruitful collaboration that has developed between the two countries over recent years. LED is actively supporting Cambodia in building skilled workforce for the energy transition, sustainable tourism, and digital transformation. Via letter from Moldavia:

Pius Frick, LED Country Coordinator in Cambodia, read out the message of greetings from Moldovan President Maia Sandu, who worked closely with the LED in her previous role as Minister of Education. Pius Frick worked for the LED as country coordinator in Moldova for a decade.

Here is the message of greeting from Maia Sandu on the 60th anniversary of the LED:

Dear President of the Board Beck,
Distinguished guests,
Friends of the Liechtenstein Development Service

It is an honour to address a message to you as you celebrate 60 years of the Liechtenstein Development Service — an organisation whose work continues to improve lives across the globe, including in the Republic of Moldova.
As a former Minister of Education, I witnessed firsthand the value of LED’s contribution to Moldova’s education system. LED was among the first partners to understand that reforming vocational education is not just about new curricula—it is about creating real opportunities for young people to thrive in a changing world.
Through its projects, LED has helped modernise over 30 vocational institutions in Moldova. It has supported the professional development of teachers and school managers, improved infrastructure, and, crucially, built bridges between education and the labour market.
I am particularly proud of our work together to pioneer green skills through renewable energy training programmes. As we invest in renewables, aiming to reach a sustained 30% share in our energy mix, these efforts empower our youth with the tools to shape a more sustainable future for Moldova.
The LED-supported dual education and school-based entrepreneurial initiatives also reflect the spirit of innovation we want to see more of in our country and across Europe.
On behalf of the people of Moldova, thank you for your long-standing partnership. And thank you for believing in our potential. Moldova continues its path toward a modern, European future—and thanks to partners like LED, our young people are better prepared to build it.
As we fight to strengthen our democracy and join the European Union, it becomes ever more important to raise new generations of young people who care deeply about their country, about democracy, and about peace in Europe. Moldova is changing. And with the right education and support, our young people will lead this transformation—with confidence, with integrity, and with a sense of responsibility for the world around them.
Thank you again once again for your work and congratulations on this important milestone!

orld around them.
