LED strengthens local dairy farming in Mali
Dairy farmers in Mali are looking to the future with more confidence again: the project of Vétérinaires Sans Frontières Suisse (VSF-Suisse) and the local partner CAB-Déméso contributed to the promotion of local milk production in Mali in the first years or project phases. The goal in the current final phase is now to improve the local milk value chain and thereby permanently increase the competitiveness of the farmers. You can get a vivid insight into this project in the corresponding VSF-Suisse travel report or via the project overview on the VSF-Website.
This project, co-financed by LED and Medicor, also places great emphasis on gender equity and social aspects, e.g. through the increased employment of women and youth, as well as their greater participation in leadership bodies of cooperatives and trade unions. Thanks to an increased in the income of women and young people and improved food security in households, the "COMPLAIT project" is making a significant contribution to poverty reduction in one of the poorest countries in the world. increase in the income of women and young people and improved food security in households, the "COMPLAIT project" is making a significant contribution to poverty reduction in one of the poorest countries in the world. The environmental aspects are also worth mentioning: For example, the high proportion of plastic in the project is minimised by promoting biodegradable materials in milk processing and packaging.
