The focus was on projects run by the Liechtenstein Development Service (LED) that help young people and young adults enter the world of work. The project visits showed how vocational training, a modern learning environment and partnerships with companies work together to ensure that training leads directly to better employability.

The Deputy Prime Minister used her participation in the 135th session of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe in Chișinău to visit LED bilateral development cooperation projects in advance. She learned about the work of the LED on the ground and the benefits of the projects for apprentices and companies.

The Republic of Moldova has been a priority country for Liechtenstein’s development cooperation since 2007. The LED works closely with governmental and non-governmental partners to strengthen vocational education and training and improve the transition from school to the labor market. Since 2023, support has focused exclusively on vocational education and training and employability.

The program included vocational school no. 9 in Chișinău, the Centre of Excellence in Energy and Electronics (CEEE) and the Youth Maker Club at the Tekwill Innovation Centre. The visits showed how practical training is organized and how schools work together with companies so that learners can apply their skills in a real working environment. At the same time, it became clear how modern infrastructure and contemporary learning methods – particularly in future-oriented areas such as energy and electronics – help graduates to acquire skills that are in demand in technical professions. In addition to formal vocational training, the Youth Maker Club enables low-threshold, practical learning experiences where young people can try out new technologies, implement their own projects and get to know career prospects in the growing tech environment.

Liechtenstein has been supporting projects in the Republic of Moldova via the LED since 2007 with a total of over CHF 25 million. The focus is on establishing a vocational training system that combines quality, practical relevance and equal opportunities. In this way, Liechtenstein’s development cooperation is making a concrete contribution to giving young people in the Republic of Moldova better career prospects in their own country.

During the visit, the Deputy Prime Minister also held a working meeting with Education and Research Minister Dan Perciun. The focus was on the ongoing reforms in the education sector and cooperation with the LED and local partners. They also addressed the question of how training opportunities – including in the fields of electronics and transportation – can be further strengthened.

Deputy Prime Minister Sabine Monauni visited several vocational training projects supported by Liechtenstein in Chișinău on May 13 and 14, 2026.
